With the financial assistance of The Sustainable Energy Fund and the creative input of Artefact Inc., Illick's Mill will have state-of-the-art photovoltaic energy systems installed in a variety of locations. The roof over both of our south-facing stairways will be covered with photovoltaic panels, providing energy to both reduce our reliance on the energy grid and to directly power a display demonstrating the value of solar power.

In addition, two shade kiosks just east of the Mill will be covered with photovoltaic panels, providing shade over park benches and power to the Mill.

As the Mill's programming grows and our support increases, we hope to utilize additional solar power sources: perhaps solar-powered birdbaths and solar-powered street-crossing systems.

Without a doubt, solar power will always have a practical and inspirational place at Illick's Mill, reducing our reliance on traditional wasteful sources of energy and utilizing the power of the sun to make our future, and the future of our watershed, even brighter.
